Rand News Update │ Rand trading at level of 15.4500

The South African rand is trading at a level of 15.4500 after it lost its gains from yesterday’s quick recovery. It reached a low of 15.2150 but quickly turned at reached a high of 15.5325 during last night’s session. Heading into the weekend, markets will be risky and unpredictable. The predicted trading range for the rand today is between 15.2500 and 15.6500.

As of Thursday, 27 January 2022, South Africa has recorded 4100 new Covid-19 cases and 152 more hospital admissions, as a result the country has a positivity rate of 10.5% for the country. Majority of the new cases are from Gauteng, followed by the Western cape.

USA President, Joe Biden has met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy because the security situation on the border with Russia is escalating. The State Department has recommended that all U.S. citizens in Ukraine to leave the country immediately as the military build-up on the border continues.
