Rand News Update │ Rand steady at 15.40 level

The South African rand is trading steady at a level of 15.4000 as the local CPI is expected tomorrow. Trading activity was quiet yesterday since it was a holiday in the U.S. Local market focus will be on the CPI being released tomorrow. The predicted trading range for the rand today is between 15.2000 and 15.6000.

Oil prices increased with more than $1 on Tuesday which was influenced by concerns rising over possible supply disruptions after Yemen’s Houthi group attacked the United Arab Emirates. This is causing major upset between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

The National Department of Health has reported a total of 91 611 active coronavirus cases as of 17 January 2022. A number of 87 death were reported with a recovery rate of 94.8%.
