The South African rand managed to recover even more in yesterday’s session and currently at a positive level of 15.2000. The local unit reached its best level of 15.1450 in yesterday’s session. Today’s market focus will be on the U.S. data releases, which will cause the markets to be vigilant. The predicted trading range for the rand today is between 15.0000 and 15.5000.
Chinese markets along with Asian shares saw a decline after a week in which various central banks around the world avoided any aggressive announcements which boosted the dollar. Gold prices increased after the U.S. Federal Reserve’s decision not the rush into raising interest rates, although it did weaken the bond yields.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases has reported 319 new covid-19 cases and 31 deaths yesterday. Most yesterday’s cases were reported in KwaZulu-Natal. There is a total of 17 963 active cases in the country with a recovery rate of 96.3%. The total vaccinated people in South Africa are on 25.92% with only 21.02% being fully vaccinated.
