Rand News Update │ Rand regaining strength to 14.40 level

The South African rand has gained some strength over night and is trading back down in high 14.40s. The rand reached its high point of 14.7875 yesterday, after which it made a move to trade at a best level of around 14.4500. The predicted trading range for the rand today is between 14.3500 and 14.8500.

The rand got some support when the U.S. Federal Reserve announced that the recent U.S. data was likely just temporarily. While keeping that in mind, the rand is still in a volatile state as the country is in a crisis.

The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NCID) reported that 17 489 new Covid-19 cased have been identified in South Africa. This represents a 31.0% positivity rates. There have also been 453 Covid-19 related deaths recorded. The total number of vaccines administers now stands at 4 688 779.
